A two-bedroom lodge on the wooded shore of freshwater Loch Rannoch, this Highland hideaway sleeps six and welcomes canine pals, with its own private sauna for unwinding after a hike up Schiehallion. The upper-floor living space and conservatory are oriented towards the view, with room for families or two couples travelling together, so bring binoculars and watch for golden eagles and otters over the water.
The lodge has a split-level, reverse-level design, with the open-plan lounge/kitchen/diner on the upper floor, reached by internal stairs. The lounge area holds a pull-down double bed and opens into a conservatory, where seating faces the loch and the glass doors slide back to create a covered, balcony-like space. A dining table sits beside the kitchen area. Downstairs, both bedrooms have zip-and-link beds that can be made up as doubles or twins on request, and one has an en-suite bathroom with a shower over the bath and a WC. The family bathroom on this floor has a bath, shower, and WC. Access to the lodge is along a walkway that includes a number of steps. There are 7 acres of shared grounds with woodland and footpaths for dog walks. Free parking across the site is first come, first served.
Tay Forest Park begins 2.5 miles away, with paths winding through the trees. Paddleboards and other boats can be hired nearby for a day on the water. Kenmore, 16 miles away, is the starting point for cruises on Loch Tay. Aberfeldy is 18 miles away, while Pitlochry, 25 miles away, offers another option for a tail-wagging day out.
