This one-bedroom lodge sits above the shores of Loch Rannoch in the Scottish Highlands. It is suited to couples or a small family who want quiet days indoors and long hours on the hills with their pup. Views stretch across the water to the Caledonian pine forest beyond, and the conservatory doubles as a lookout for star-filled skies once darkness settles over the loch. The surrounding woodland shelters some of the UK's rarest wildlife, so keep watch for red squirrels and pine martens. Golden eagles are also among the wildlife found in the area.
Patio doors draw light into the open-plan living space, where a compact corner kitchen sits alongside a dining table seating four. The lounge area has a Smart TV, with a games table for device-free entertainment. A double sofa bed sleeps two additional guests. Further patio doors open into the conservatory, which looks out over the water. The double bedroom has a zip-and-link bed that can be made up as twins on request. A family bathroom has a shower over the bath and a WC. The property has no private outdoor space, though guests have use of the shared grounds and woodland paths within the lodge complex, which are perfect for dog walks. Parking is in the site's car parks on a first-come, first-served basis.
Braes of Foss car park, 7 miles away, marks the start of the climb up Schiehallion, the Munro known as the ‘fairy mountain’. The River Tay, 20 miles away, is the place for white-water rafting, with gorge walking arranged through local activity centres. Pitlochry, 25 miles from the loch, has a Festival Theatre. A working distillery, the same distance away, runs whisky tastings in historic surroundings.
