This pet-friendly lodge overlooking Loch Rannoch makes a peaceful base for a couple or small family, with forest walks and Munro climbs starting close by. It sits within a quiet holiday complex in Kinloch Rannoch, beneath Schiehallion, the region's 'fairy mountain'. Red squirrels and pine martens live among the surrounding woods and hills, alongside golden eagles. The sky above the loch can bring glimpses of the Northern Lights.
The open-plan living space has a kitchen area at one end and a dining table that seats four. The lounge has a Smart TV and doubles as the sleeping space with a double sofa bed and a pull-down double griffin bed. Storage and hanging space are provided, along with a reading lamp. Patio doors open into a furnished conservatory looking out across the water. A bathroom with a shower over the bath and WC completes the layout. No private outdoor space comes with the property, but the shared grounds and woodland paths are used by other guests at the complex. Parking is in the park's car park on a first-come, first-served basis.
Walking and cycling trails thread through the surrounding glens and forestry, while the climb up Schiehallion is within easy reach. From Rannoch Station (16 miles), the West Highland Line runs to Mallaig on a route regularly voted one of the most spectacular train journeys in the world. Several outdoor activity centres lie within 25 miles, offering white-water rafting and canyoning alongside quad biking.
