The Lizard is a superb location to take a dog-friendly holiday. This curious peninsula in the west of Cornwall is a unique outcrop with contrasting landscapes and hidden escapes throughout its length and breadth. The eastern edge is characterised by woodland coves and tiny villages whilst the west is sparser with granite faced cliffs and grand ocean views to soak in. Lizard Point, with its lighthouse is the most southerly point on the British mainland – it is home to a small café and a tiny beach with a former lifeboat launch.

Other great attractions on the Lizard are the legions of dog-friendly beaches like Kennack Sands, Gunwalloe Cove, Porthoustock and Coverack. Head to Roskilly’s Farm to sample some of their delicious ice creams and to meet some cool farm animals. Fat Apples is the best eatery for miles and the best value for money too, so seek it out when you fancy a good quality lunch. Sunday lunches a gogo at the dog-friendly pubs of St Keverne, which is the cradle of the 16th century Cornish revolutions. The harbour village of Porthleven, tucked away in the north-western corner, is renowned for its food festival, offering bites to eat from around the globe. For a wide array of amenities head to the gateway town of Helston, which is at the northern end of the Lizard. For family days out, consider taking the whole family to Flambards theme park near Helston.

Head to Mullion for great family beaches and wonderful views from the lengthy South West Coast Path; covering all of the coastline of Cornwall, it's a true trekker’s delight whether you have two feet or four. Goonhilly Downs is a spectacular place for birdwatching, it’s a wild open wilderness of marshes and grasslands that are all the more memorable for their colossal radar dishes at the former earth stations.
