Holidays in Ballater

Ballater dog-friendly accommodation

Treat your dog to an unforgettable holiday in Ballater, located to the east of the Cairngorms National Park. We have some great dog-friendly self-catering cottages in Ballater to choose from for your holiday. Situated deep in Aberdeenshire, Ballater is a superb choice of holiday destination with your dog as there are lots of pet-friendly visitor attractions, natural landmarks and places of historic interest, like the Balmoral Estate (8 miles), the Royal Lochnagar Whisky Distillery (8.5 miles), and Loch Muick (11.5 miles) to seek out.

Ballater is famous for its royal associations partially due to its proximity to Balmoral, and you will notice that many of its shops and businesses display their warrants to supply in their windows. A good place to get started after arriving in Ballater is the iCentre where you can learn about places to go and receive local information on opening times and prices. One of Ballater’s quirky attractions is the miniature museum housed in a former AA roadside assistance box, the Cambus O’May Box, one of only ten left in the UK. It has been restored and managed by locals who have kept it in tip-top condition, no matter how harsh the weather conditions have been. Dog walkers will love to try out the trek to the Cambus O’May Quarry which has been closed since the 1930s – you can still see the remains of a giant crane there. There are about a dozen other trails that originate or run through Ballater too – doggy heaven!

One of our dog-friendly cottages in Ballater would make the perfect backdrop for your Highlands holiday. Visit our collection of dog-friendly accommodation and discover properties that include handy features such as dog beds and blankets, outdoor taps for cleaning paws, doggy welcome packs, and enclosed gardens for exercise.
