Explore Aberdeen with your dog from our dog-friendly accommodation

Aberdeen is a vibrant and cosmopolitan city, set on the east coast of Scotland, alongside the North Sea, with our dog-friendly accommodation in Aberdeen offering the perfect base for exploring. The ‘granite city’ is a top choice for a holiday or short break, and welcomes your four-legged friends with plenty of dog-friendly places to stay, eateries and attractions, not to mention fantastic walks nearby.

Ballroom Beach on the seafront of the city has sections which are dog-friendly year-round, the expanse of the North Sea providing a beautiful backdrop, whatever the season. There are several parks and gardens in the city centre: Union Terrace Gardens, Duthie Park and Hazlehead (on the outskirts) are all lovely places to enjoy a walk with your dog. After stretching your legs, enjoy a meal and a pint in one of the city’s many dog-friendly eateries, including BrewDog at Gallowgate or Castlegate.

Head out further from the city and the Cairngorms National Park is a playground for the adventurous pooch and their owner. Loch Muick and Lochnagar are top choices, or you can tick off some mountains if you’re into Munro bagging. Mount Keen is a favourite for those looking for a less challenging climb, and is good for your dog too.

Intersperse your walks in nature with some moseying through castle grounds. While most of the castles don’t allow dogs inside, you are more than welcome to exercise your pets in the stunning gardens and estates. Dunnottar (18.5 miles) and Drum Castle (13 miles) are just a couple of the options near our dog-friendly cottages in Aberdeen. For even more ideas, explore our dog-friendly guide to Scotland.

At least one day should be spent exploring the beautiful city itself. Bursting with shops, eateries and live music venues, there’s something for everyone. All of the delights of the city can be enjoyed from the comfort of our dog-friendly self-catering accommodation in Aberdeen. Our dog-friendly cottages in Aberdeen and the surrounding area of Aberdeenshire are well-equipped for you and your pooch, offering a variety of features such as enclosed gardens and walkies from the doorstep to make your dog-friendly holiday in Scotland a memorable one.
