Explore Melrose with your dog from our dog-friendly accommodation
A delightful historic town on the Scottish Borders, our dog-friendly cottages in Melrose have lots to offer the holidaying pup and their family. Melrose has plenty of attractions: the imposing 12th-century ruined Melrose Abbey, home to a casket believed to contain the heart of Robert the Bruce, being just one of them. The town is located next to the Eildon Hills, whose triple peaks are the most distinctive single landmark in the Scottish Borders; you can do an excellent half-day hill walk from Melrose, although one section is very muddy – no problem for our canine friends but you may wish to pack your wellies and a dry pair of socks.
Dogs who love chasing a ball will be thrilled to know that they are visiting the home of Rugby Sevens – perhaps less so when they realise that this strangely-shaped ball that doesn’t seem to bounce properly isn’t actually for them. No matter, they can console themselves with a visit to Sir Walter Scott’s beautiful mansion, Abbotsford, just 3 miles west of Melrose and our dog-friendly cottages. This charming country house and gardens not only allows dogs, but positively welcomes them with open paws. For even more dog-friendly days out in the area, check out our Canine guide to Scotland.
When it’s time to retire for the night, rest your heads at one of our pet-friendly holiday cottages in Melrose which also love our four-legged pals – check them out to find the perfect Melrose dog-friendly accommodation for you and your furry family and start exploring Scotland.
