This cosy cottage, just 6 miles from the bustling market town of Keswick, sleeps eight guests and two canine chums, making it ideal for large families and groups of friends. Located in the heart of the Borrowdale Valley, expect stunning Lakeland views and plenty of wildlife-watching opportunities. After a long walk through the fells with Rover and Fido, return to your holiday home to snuggle in front of the roaring wood burner or perhaps stroll down to the paw-friendly tearoom (200 metres). Keen four-legged explorers can take on Scafell Pike, just under 30 miles away.
Enter the property into the country-style kitchen where you’ll find everything you need to rustle up a tasty meal for the group to enjoy in the formal dining room overlooking the surrounding fells. From the kitchen, move into the warm and inviting lounge, which has characterful exposed beams and a wood burner for the hounds to stretch out in front of, whilst you catch up on your favourite programme on the smart TV. In the evening, challenge your fellow guests to a table football match in the games room, before retiring to the king-size room, one of the two doubles, or the twin room. There’s also a shared lawn and patio for dining.
The walking opportunities are endless, from vigorous mountain climbs to gentle waterside strolls. Head to Keswick, the epicentre for outdoor activities, to discover all the different ways you can explore the Lake District, including climbing, kayaking and paddleboarding. From Keswick, you and the hounds can visit Derwentwater, where you can board one of the launches to cruise across the water or enjoy a peaceful walk along the lake’s shoreline. The pretty town of Ambleside is 22.5 miles away and has a great selection of independent boutiques and cafes that welcome four-pawed visitors.
