Canine Critic

Top dog brands

Kirsty 30 May 2018

Throughout our search for a Canine Critic, we had the help of lots of gorgeous pet brands to make our dogs’ dreams come true. Whilst we could only crown one eventual winner, that didn’t mean our runners up should miss out.

Every applicant received a voucher to enjoy money off their next trip, whilst our top ten got some additional extra special prizes from some very generous poochy people…

Dog Robes

Poppy's personalised DogRobe

Having contributed to our pawsome hampers at Christmas, the wonderful humans at Dog Robes once again offered their services for our Canine Critic campaign, this time going above and beyond with the prize they gave our top dog. Poppy’s personalised embroidered coat went down a treat and is sure to come in handy on her adventures as our newest team member!

A FitBark2 featuring Poppy's winning rosette

Just when we thought the winning pooch couldn’t be any luckier, FitBark popped us a brand new and improved FitBark 2 in the post! You may have heard of a FitBit, and might even be wearing one right now, and if so, this nifty little gadget will be fairly straightforward but if not, allow us to explain. A small bone-shaped device, the gadget attaches to your pooch’s collar, monitoring its activity levels, sleep patterns, distance walked, calories and overall health – it’s a little bit of genius tech that your canine can rock in front of his or her friends – just like Poppy will on her travels!

Lily’s Kitchen

With lots of exciting oppawtunities lined up with this pawfect pet food brand, we’re thrilled that their first venture with us was a huge contribution of vouchers to our second-place pooch. Lucky mutt Merlin was our eventual runner-up after thousands of applicants, and though he narrowly missed the top spot, this part of his consolation prize is sure to not leave him with empty paws – or an empty belly!

Best in Show

Another of our previous contributors at Christmas that went down a treat with the recipients, Best in Show are pup to their ears with pawsome treats, toys and gifts that are sure to get tails wagging. For our third-place pooch, a ready-built hamper from this wonderful company is sure to make for an unpawgettable postal delivery! Complete with wicker bone basket, there’s plenty of treats in this dog hamper to keep any canine entertained for hours. We’re thrilled that Best in Show were happy to help again!

Pawsecco Pops by Woof and Brew

We’ve adored from afar as Pawsecco and Bottom Sniffer Beer has swiftly made its way to pubs and delis across the country, offering the discerning dog their very own tipple, so we were going barking mad when the humans at Woof&Brew said they wanted to help our campaign! Just in time for summer and a brand-new product launch, our top ten won’t have to worry about the British heat getting to them with Pawsecco Pops ready and waiting in the freezer! Healthy and refreshing, we couldn’t think of a cooler product to collar for our hard-working top ten.

Neoh and Nobo treats

Their naughty and nice bones were loved so much at Christmas that we just had to ask this beautiful brand if they’d like to contribute anything to our Canine Critic campaign! A simplistic design and natural, pure ingredients create a product so divine that dogs will fall head over paws the moment they sniff the packaging. For this campaign, Neoh&Nobo kindly offered some personalised treats for our top three, as well as some of their famous peanut butter. Did someone say, “lucky dogs”?!

Villager Jim

'Dog hair, don't care' - Cushions by Villager Jim

Addicted to photography and one of the nicest men in the business, this dog-mad Peak District dweller lives to take pawsome pictures of pooches, amongst many other things, then prints them in approximately one million different formats. His designs and products vary in size, shape and style, but at their heart it’s a love of animals that makes them so special. Jim kindly donated two gorgeous cushions to our second and third-place dogs, and we can’t wait to work with him more in the coming months.

The Natural Pet Toy Company

ANiseed toy bones by the Natural Pet Toy Company

Catering to the needs of cats, rabbits and of course dogs, this Bristol-based company love animals, and have spent years finding the finest products to create a range of goodies that are simply pawsome. Their special treats at Christmas got lots of attention, so we’re thrilled they could spare a few toys for our top ten pooches of Canine Critic. The colourful toy bones with aniseed are luxurious, sweet and eye-catching – how could any pooch not love one?

We were blown away by the beautiful leather leads and collars from The Stylish Dog Company. These intricately made essentials suit our three gorgeous finalists down to the paws, and we feel very lucky to have received such wonderful gifts for our top three. The products on their site vary in purpose but are all equally stunning; many of them are also pawfectly suited to a doggy holiday, with carriers, clothing, beds and blankets for that added sense of luxury on your escape.

Ruffle Snuffle

Vibrant and fun, simple yet effective, a Ruffle Snuffle mat is the boredom buster all dog owners need for their tireless pooch. Shake the rug, sprinkle some food, ruffle up the fleece and watch your dog spend hours with their new favourite toy! Our top three won’t have any trouble keeping occupied with these colourful little contraptions, and with lots more pretty pooch products on site you’ll adore their doggy things!
