With walkies galore across both coast and country, splashing in muddy puddles and frolicking in salty waves followed by a bowl of water and a snooze at one of the area’s dog-friendly pubs, is sure to be a fixture on any self-respecting canine’s holiday schedule.
Amble is home to the UK’s only puffin festival – take the Puffin Cruise from Amble Harbour and marvel at the 36,000-bird colony which nests in the RSPB seabird sanctuary on Coquet Island. Friendly dogs are welcome aboard, just make sure that they have their sea-paws before you embark! Closer to home, take a stroll around Amble Harbour Village where you can try out the freshest fish at the seafood centre and browse for gifts amongst the arts and crafts shops. Back to walkies, as surely this is the only reason you have come, head to Warkworth Beach where you can walk the long stretch of sand and pop into the famous dog-friendly pub afterwards for a pint of the best local ale and bowl of water.
