This nautical-themed cottage on the Northumberland coast is perfect for a dog-friendly family getaway or couple’s retreat filled with history, nature and wildlife. Up to four guests and two canine companions can stay in this two-storey coastal townhouse with a wood burner and garden. You’ll also be within easy reach of the Northumberland Coast National Landscape.

Step inside and find yourself in the cosy neutral-toned lounge with a splash of orange and blue throughout. An eye-catching stone inglenook fireplace with a wood burner is at one end of the room, with sofas on either side. Wooden furnishings and a handmade model yacht add character to the space. Continue into the farmhouse-style kitchen with wooden countertops and grey cabinets on the fitted ‘corner unit. Adjacent is a wooden dining table with bench seating. Climb the stairs with a bannister made from boat oars to reach the first-floor bathroom and two bedrooms – an en-suite king-size plus a twin room. Outside is an enclosed courtyard with furniture, an outdoor tap and bike storage. There is ample on-street parking.

While staying in the rivermouth town of Amble, you’ll have an array of restaurants, cafes and independent shops on your doorstep. Take Fido for a wander around the marina and walk along the River Croquet to reach the medieval Warkworth Castle (1.5 miles). From there, you can explore the dune-backed golden beaches, coastal walking trails and seaside villages of the Northumberland Coast National Landscape. Go for a splash at the dog-friendly Warwork Beach (3 miles) or go mutts in the Druridge Bay Country Park (3 miles).

Easy access to the beach

Had to move two heavy sofas to be able to watch the TV. Poor standard of cleanliness in bathrooms and fridge. Tissue paper stuffed into rear door vents. This was a good, comfortable and well equipped cottage in a terrific location. We only used the car once in the week we stayed - handy for beach and town.

Great location and spacious, homely accommodation. A nice welcome of Prosecco and biscuits. Parking opposite was always easy. Well equipped kitchen and comfortable sofas. Located a short walk to the harbour and short drive to Amble Links beach. A great base to explore the area.

Lovely cottage in a nice quiet location in amble. Very clean and everything you needed, plus a welcome bottle of prosecco and biscuits. Only issue was we were given the wrong code for the key safe, which was a bit of a stressful start to our holiday after a long journey.. luckily we eventually got through to the helpline who gave us the correct numRead moreber.
