Alternatively, the River Trent runs through the heart of the county, so a waterside walk is always a tranquil choice.

The towns of Burton-Upon-Trent and Stoke-on-Trent both have the usual high street shops and restaurant choices, with the scenic views of the river running through them. Hugely popular amusement parks Drayton Manor and Alton Towers are within the county borders, meaning there’s something for big kids of all ages to do. Although your canine companion can’t enter the parks, they’re a perfect activity for any extra adrenaline junkies on holiday.
