Set between Earlston (4.5 miles) and Lauder (6.5 miles) for days out, ensure you visit Lauder’s lovely Thirlestane Castle, with dogs welcome in the grounds. Melrose (10 miles) has lively events, historic sights and riverside walks – its open-air abbey ruins are wonderful for pup pals to sniff around.
