Take a trip to Cumbria with your family and dogs. This maisonette, part of a large stone cottage with two other properties, is a lovely base from which you can explore the delights of the Lake District.
When you enter the building, you’ll follow a shared hallway down to your maisonette. Go through the front door and be welcomed into a beautifully lit lounge/diner, awash with natural light from the patio doors during the day and warmed by the wood burner-effect electric fire in the evenings. There’s also a modern kitchen, equipped with everything you’ll need to make food for your party, and a shower room to complete the ground floor. Continue to the first floor for the bedrooms: a double for you; a twin for younger children, and a single for a teenager. The rooms are simple and unfussy, and you’ll be sure to have a good night’s sleep. There’s another family bathroom. You’ll have access to a private but unenclosed patio with rattan furniture, which overlooks the lawn, so take a drink outside as the children and dogs play.
The cottage is in a quiet part of Cumbria, about 5.5 miles from Keswick. It’s a nice town with a few shops around and some dog-friendly eateries for anyone who fancies a meal out. From Keswick, it’s an easy trip to the 5,000-year-old Castlerigg Stone Circle (7 miles from the property). Finish your holiday with a splash, either by visiting Bassenthwaite Lake National Nature Reserve, 5 miles, or Allonby Beach, 16 miles, where salty sea dogs – and their humans – are always welcome.
