Plan your escape to the Lake District National Park and bring along Fido so that he doesn’t miss out on the fun. This cosy retreat sleeps two along with one well-behaved pup and is an ideal vantage point for exploring. The spectacular glacial waters of Bassenthwaite Lake lie just 2 miles from the property, promising a myriad of walking and cycle routes. As a bonus treat for spirit connoisseurs, the Lakes Distillery is perched towards the northern end of the lake and offers tours.

This former barn has much to offer beneath the stone exterior, starting with an living space complete with high ceilings and timber beams. Let sleeping dogs lie whilst you watch TV or plan a meal around the table in the useful kitchen that’s equipped with all the necessities for cooking up a storm. At bedtime, the light and airy bedroom features a double bed. Completing the property is a bathroom with bath and shower. A shared garden offers a quiet space for al fresco drinks.

Leave no stick unfetched as you discover your surroundings, taking a footpath leading through the rugged countryside or hopping in the car to delve even further. Bassenthwaite Lake is a haven for wildlife, treating you to glimpses of elusive red squirrels and perhaps the rare vendace fish if you are lucky enough to see one whilst sailing on the water. For the hardened explorers, the foothills of Skiddaw are 3.5 miles away if you can’t resist the marvellous views from the top. If gentle ambles are more your style, Dodd Wood is a lovely place to explore, and why not admire the peaks from the comfort of a picnic rug with a tempting sandwich in hand.

Location is good with a car. Keswick is a short drive as are local pubs for food. Place is newly refurbished and clean. Drying room available downstairs which is very handy for wet clothes and boots! Self check in is handy for late arrivals.

We stayed at Ullock Pike. The apartment was warm, clean and well equipped. Lovely views and plenty of walks a short drive away. The manager there was very friendly and helpful. There is some grassed area at the property for your four legged friends and a bridle path right next to the property. It does get a little wet further down this path so wellRead moreies would be useful. Hide
