Thousands applied, but only one dog could ever be our #CanineCritic2018. We looked at all the adorable entrants and whittled it down to a top ten, and eventually a top three, with the final decision ultimuttly down to you!
Below, you’ll find a biography for each of our finalists, complete with why they made the top ten, their gorgeous entry picture, and links to our top three's social media accounts for a bit of added cuteness.
About: Merlin may be young, but he’s gained some furnomenal skills at his puppy classes, many of which he’ll be showing off at a few charity dog shows this summer. Pawsome at walking both on and off the lead, he loves adventures with his humans and is most at home sniffing around woodland and fields. Always perfectly behaved for his mummy, he’s a natural poser for the camera, and has previously visited the Lake District, Buckinghamshire and Bristol to see his doggy friends. Forever on the lookout for pigeons in the garden, he quite simply adores life with his humans.
Likes: Playing fetch, tug of war, and walks that include puddles and swimming. Really loves napping on his humans’ feet.

About: Spending her days sniffing around her favourite places in the Cotswolds, Poppy became an intrepid explorer at a young age. Though she loves discovering pawsome places right on her doorstep, she has already had holidays in Yorkshire, Wales, the Lake District and on the Dorset coast, and has even done a ten-day road trip around bonnie Scotland! Poppy brands herself as ‘quite the little mountain goat’, often dragging her humans up mountains across the UK. She also knows that everyone needs some time to relax, so is always on the lookout for the best dog-friendly pubs and cafes around.
Likes: Unearthing hidden gems off the tourist trails, paddling, digging, snuggles, car journeys, frisbee, tummy rubs, and meeting lots of other doggies.
Dislikes: Wheelie bins…

About: Innis is a withdrawn Guide Dog puppy who suffered from meningitis at an early age. Though his dream job was to help humans in need, he’s now looking for a change in career path, and wants to be the best Canine Critic he can by recommending all of the dog-friendly places possible around the UK. Innis is well-travelled and has experienced many adventures during his life so far, exploring forests, mountains, beaches and more. He always finds it a bonus to have somewhere to swim, and knows how impawtent it is to recharge your batteries every now and then and enjoy tasty snacks as much as possible!
Likes: Everything, including - but not limited to - food, toys, walks, playing, swimming, sleeping and holidays. Has a particular penchant for tennis balls.
Dislikes: Lettuce. No one likes lettuce anyway.
