Canine Critic

Canine Critics 2022 winners: Darcy and Darla

Kate W 28 September 2022

Our 2022 competition is over and we want to say a huge thank you to everyone who entered – the calibre of applicants this year was impressive!

After reading through the applications from loads of amazing dogs, and with a whole lot of deliberation from our fantastic judging panel, we have finally filled the role of Canine Critic 2022.

The winners of this year’s competition is not just one dog but a duo of wonderful pups: meet the adventure-loving Darcy and Darla!

These siblings have a packed year ahead of them and can’t wait to get started - but first, let us tell you a bit about these two Dalmatian darlings…

Read all about Darcy and Darla below or sign up for news on our Canine Critics page to be the first to hear when our 2023 competition opens.

Meet our winners, Darcy and Darla

Meet our winners | Darcy and Darla

  • Breeds: Dalmatian and Dalmatian/Staffy cross
  • Age: Darcy is 7 years old and Darla is just 2!
  • Instagram handle:  @darcyanddarla

The first things you’ll notice about these two pups are their beautiful, spotty coats – but the things that will stay with you are their sparkling personalities!

Darla, all Dalmatian and the younger of the two, has epilepsy so needs constant supervision. She’s been through a lot medically in her short life and is resilient to her core. She’s an inspiration and a true sweetheart who adores being outside exploring.

Darcy, on the other hand, is an attention-loving, ball-obsessed firecracker with lots of love to give – her DNA may be mostly Dalmatian, but her personality is certainly Staffy! Like Darla, she loves nothing better than striking out on a hike, going for a swim, or even paddleboarding with her owner.

“We can’t wait to try and test four stunning locations and see what each area has to offer for both human and hound! Even better, we get to share all our adventures and thoughts with our friends online... we hope to do you all proud!” - from Darla, Darcy and their pup parent, Molly

Full of love and with an adventurous spirit running through their blood, we can’t wait to see what these wonderful doggos get up to this year.

Investigating and exploring the best the UK has to offer dogs and their pup parents – our Canine Critics’ role is to showcase the most spellbinding destinations for hounds in the UK.

On each trip, it is their goal to determine the area’s dog friendliness, seek out the top walks and attractions, and review the holiday cottage they stay in too.

You can follow Darcy and Darla’s adventures in the coming months over on Instagram or keep an eye on our blog for full-length Canine Critic reviews. If you can’t wait that long and need some travel inspo for you and your pup right now, read our previous Critics reviews.
