Canine cottages in Scotland with the best views

Summon up your idea of a breathtaking view. Are you transported to the Scottish Highlands, with its raggedy coasts, arcadian country parks, deep cultural connections and scope for boundless escape? Beauty is found in the eye of the beholder, but is there such a person that could genuinely describe Scotland’s wilds as an eyesore? We think you’d have a very long search to find them.

The country above the border is a true frontier land of jaw-dropping spectacle and even your dogs will take time to stop and stare when out on the trail. Every bend in the road opens out onto a painterly vision – the commonality of these views doesn’t lessen their value, on the contrary, the extent enhances your need for even more.

A view

Now imagine enjoying this kind of view from the comfort of a cosy chair, a garden lounger or even a hot tub. Take your dog on holiday to one of our amazing self-catering pet-friendly holiday cottages. We have properties for visitors across the country whether you are travelling with your partner or as part of a large group with friends and family. We have compiled a selection of our favourite properties with a view in Scotland. We have luxury cottages and log cabins across the country which have dog-friendly features and can also be booked, in some cases, for a short break.

The Uphouse

The Uphouse

Sleeps: 3 dogs and 2 humans

Why we love it

Kinlochbervie is so remote, if the name rolled off the tongue more easily, it may well have been used by definition. The delightful, dog-friendly holiday home is located in the remote north-west of Scotland. The small fishing village is surrounded by water and skyline views of jagged mountains. With its enclosed garden for the pooch to play in and a very cosy interior complete with a wood burner, this property is a superb place to hide away from the world at large.

Why guests love it

“For visitors who like solitude and spectacular scenery, this is idyllic. There are great walks and places for dogs to swim within 20 miles and a good restaurant, The Old School House.” Michael

Munro baggers and hill climbers will also relish the challenge of walking hills like Stac Pollaidh, Cul Mhor and Suilven. The coastline offers lovely sandy beaches, including Sandwood Bay, said to be the most magnificent beach in the UK. Also, seek out Cape Wrath Lighthouse and Smoo Cave near Durness.

Guisachan

Guisachan

Sleeps: 2 dogs and 10 humans

Why we love it:

We love this luxury holiday cottage because it is big and has plenty of space inside and out for those on two legs and four. Set northwest of the Cairngorms National Park, this is an outstanding area of Scotland to call home for your holidays. With its split-level garden, which is fully enclosed, you have somewhere to let the dogs play if you decide to fire up the BBQ in the evenings. There's a small family room if the kids need some alone time and the open fire will be a hit with the pups. With spectacular views of the surrounding area, Guisachan is hard to beat for dog owners.

Why our guests love it:

“Excellent, best equipped holiday house we have ever stayed in, even toys for the kids. Fantastic large enclosed garden, beautifully kept, ideal for dogs and children. Stunning views from the house. Would highly recommend it.” Anne
