Pet-friendly holidays and accommodation in the Elan Valley, Wales
The International Dark Sky Park may be one of the reasons that amateur astronomers and their canine sidekicks flock to visit this stunning part of Wales. But there’s so much more in the Elan Valley. 72 square miles of unspoilt nature with stunning cascading rivers, historic reservoirs and important wildlife means that you’ll be sure to find your very own peaceful spot in this beautiful part of the rugged Cambrian Mountains, to just walk and breathe in the fresh Welsh air. The dams are a legacy of amazing Victorian engineering and have to be seen to be believed. Whatever type of walkie you are looking for, you’ll find one for all levels of canine ability in the Elan Valley: short trails with splashable puddles, challenging hikes for fitter four-legs, as well as surfaced paths so that those with pushchairs and wheelchairs can enjoy this beautiful piece of Britain too.
The Visitor Centre below Caban Coch Dam is a great place to find out about the area and a gift shop and café are on hand for post-walk snacks. One of you will have to hold the dog as they are not allowed inside unfortunately but there is external seating, water bowls and tie points if you fancy stopping to refuel. When it’s time for man, woman and dog to retire for the night, come and stay in our dog-friendly holiday accommodation in and around the Elan Valley, ready for your next day’s adventures in this beautiful slice of Wales.
