Prepare to lead a dog’s life amongst the beautiful countryside of the Wye Valley, swapping the stresses of modern life for gentle strolls, spectacular scenery, and more enticing local produce than you can shake a stick at. This historic property is the ideal base for your adventures, offering four guests and two canine companions a cosy haven for fireside snoozes and quality time with the ones you love.
Three storeys high and brimming with period features, the property is laid out in a quirky reverse-level style, complete with a ground-floor bedroom and wet room. Upstairs, the lounge is warm and inviting with sofas, a wood burner and panoramic views of the surrounding area. The useful open-plan kitchen/dining area is equipped with everything you need to whip up tempting treats, best enjoyed around the dining table with Fido at your feet. A final set of stairs lead to a mezzanine bedroom overlooking the lounge, which has exposed beams and comfortable twin beds. Outside, the shared gardens are a tranquil setting for picnics.
From your doorstep, you’ll be able to walk the short half-mile distance to Goodrich Castle, which now lies in majestic ruins. Furry visitors are welcome to wander throughout the site and can join their two-legged companions for a spot of lunch in the tearoom. The River Wye winds through the village, providing guests with fishing and canoeing opportunities, or you may prefer to travel to Symonds Yat, 3.5 miles away, for an iconic boat trip across the water. Ross-on-Wye, 4 miles away, has plenty to inspire foodies thanks to its array of pretty shops and markets, where you can pick up armloads of fresh produce to prepare a feast.
