  • Spacious shared gardens ideal for relaxing and leisure
  • Just a five-minute walk from fishing and riverside walks on the River Wye
  • Lovely location on the outskirts of the village of Goodrich and overlooked by the atmospheric ruins of Goodrich Castle
Property code: CHL04

Celebrate in style with the ones you love, based in this enchanting historic haven that enjoys panoramic views of the surrounding Wye Valley. Sleeping eight guests and three tufty-pawed pals, the property is located on the cusp of the village of Goodrich, which is famed for its impressive castle ruins and tranquil setting next to the winding River Wye.

Bursting with character and charming original features, the property is laid out in a quirky reverse-level style with two bedrooms on the ground floor, both of which are extremely stylish and have their own en-suite shower rooms. Upstairs, vaulted ceilings, exposed stone and a crackling wood burner set the scene in the open-plan living space, which is made all the more special by bright lighting and contemporary details. A formal dining table with seating for eight is perfect for family feasts prepared with love in the generously equipped kitchen, and the large lounge area will prove irresistible for fireside snoozes. The third and final bedroom is tucked on the second floor, featuring four single beds and an en-suite – beware of reduced head height! The shared gardens outside are ideal for stretching Rover’s legs, and there are on-site shared laundry facilities in a separate building.

However you envisage your stay, there’s plenty to amuse human and hound alike. Fishing, tennis, and canoeing are just a few of the activities available locally within 1 mile of the village, and there are ample walking opportunities easily accessed from your doorstep. Symond’s Yat, 3.5 miles away, is the perfect spot to hop aboard a boat and spend an afternoon on the water, or experience the iconic rope ferry that connects the east and west side. There are lots of pretty cafes dotted throughout, so be sure to pause for a delicious cream tea too.

Lovely location, quality property. Given our keys and left to enjoy our stay. Thorough handbook was available within the accommodation to answer questions. Two nearby pubs/restaurants in easy walking distance and both very hospitable.

Ideally located in the Wye valley, close to Ross on Wye. Unique self contained accommodation in a converted Priority, ideal for a get together with friends or family. 3 bathrooms for 3 bedrooms was ideal. Some furnishings & carpet were a little worn and need improvement. I would book again.

The building itself is superb, and would look amazing at Christmas. It was very clean apart from the cobwebs in the beams but they are too high for anyone to reach. It's an amazing location and building. Close enough to everything while being out of the way at the same time. Watching the swifts every morning was amazing, the kids loved bat hunting Read moreat night. We are already looking to rebook for next year. Hide

We had a lovely stay here over the Easter weekend. Wonderful old building, but very cosy and comfortable. Ideal location for exploring in the area to the rock at Symonds Yat and for hikes along the Wye and in the forest. Kitchen not the largest, but we were six adults and coped well enough.

Fantastic property in a gorgeous location. Three ensuite bedrooms was ideal for our family party. Large dining and seating areas to accommodate everyone comfortably. Lovely big fridge and freezer and kitchen was well equipped. Lovely and warm despite the stone walls - we were worried it may be cold.

Yew cottage is a characterful home which we thoroughly enjoyed. If like us you like a log fire, we found we had to purchase our first basket which was delivered quickly, no big deal to us, but the advert did state first basket was included so you may need to order in advance. Accommodation was clean, spacious and comfortable. We were self catering Read moreso took all our food with us. The kitchen was very functional and clean with complimentary tea, coffee and sugar. I was expecting a nice little self-catering place in a pretty area. I was bowled over by just how good everything was. The apartment (over three storeys) was very comfortable and bigger than expected. It had lots of nice little touches like the ice cube tray being full when we arrived. The area was far more than pretty - it was stunning. I'm sure tRead morehe glorious weather helped, but still. Beautiful countryside, semi-ruined castle on the hill, and all but on the banks of the River Wye. Hide

Perfectly located in the Wye valley and within the village of Goodrich. Unique self contained cottage in an atmospheric priory ideal for a get together with friends or family. Although some furnishings were a little worn this was perfect with a dog as you were not so worried about accidental damage.
