Set amid the grounds of Calthwaite Hall, this adorable micro-lodge provides a cosy and romantic base for your Cumbrian adventures. Sleeping two guests and welcoming one happy hound, this single-storey property is ideal for couples and solo adventurers travelling with their faithful furry companion. Spend your days sniffing out adventure in the Lake District, North Pennines and Scottish Borders. Then return here to sun yourself on the porch and bubble beneath the stars in your private hot tub.

This petit lodge has been thoughtfully designed to maximise space and offer all the creature comforts you may need. The light-filled studio room is a delight, with dual-aspect windows adding to the Tardis-like feel. Rustle up meals for your pack in the small but well-appointed kitchenette, then settle down for a romantic meal at the dining table. A double sofa invites relaxing evenings in front of the Smart TV and is cleverly designed to transform into a fold-down double bed for a good night’s sleep. Then enjoy a refreshing start to the day beneath the rainforest shower in the spacious shower room. The thoughtful use of space continues outside, where you’ll find a bistro table and chairs on the decking, two sun loungers at the front entrance, and a hot tub under a cabana.

Let Fido lead the way to the nearby pub, where you’ll find a warm welcome and tasty treats for man and dog alike. Or have a ball exploring the surrounding region, where you’ll find rolling hills, waterfalls, woodlands, ancient sites, historic monuments and nature reserves. The historic market town of Penrith (8 miles) has a wealth of independent shops and eateries and is the gateway to the glorious Eden Valley. Micro pod was perfect for us. More than enough equipment. Boiler malfunctioned on the first night, but owner, true to his word had it fixed the next day. Beautiful location with endless walks. Quiet area even though it was the school holidays.

What a wonderful weekend! Kim was very welcoming from the start and was happy to show us round our pod. The pod was very clean, the kitchenette was perfect for what we needed it for. Bed was comfy and plenty of pillows and bedding provided. Hot tub was nice and hot ready for our arrival. Eating at the restaurant is a must, we were expecting a cafe/Read morebar but were pleasantly surprised by a more fancy environment and the food was delicious! Lovely extra touch having the peacocks roaming! Hide
