Quite literally in this case, as this beautiful two-bed cottage is part of a complex with green credentials based on a working horse farm. As well as various holiday properties, you can take advantage of a bespoke doggy exercise area, a play park for any kids, an on-site restaurant and horse riding activities you can do in both the equestrian arena and outdoors. So, there shouldn’t be any long faces here…

This beautiful mews-style house is part of a converted barn on a rural farm set in acres of countryside within 2 miles of Newport. The history of the building is on show in the attractive roofline and also in the charming exposed beam in the lounge/diner. This spacious room has a dining table for four by French doors out to the garden, but there’s also sofa seating, a small desk and a Smart TV in here. The kitchen is well-equipped and enjoys views across the garden. Two stylish, en-suite bedrooms await upstairs, comprising one king-size bedroom and one twin, but each has a zip-and-link bed, which means they can be either configuration upon request. To the rear is a private, enclosed garden with furniture, while there’s a shared landscaped area with seating to the front.

Visit the pigs and sheep on the farm or spend time horse riding with the on-site professionals. Or check out the on-site restaurant while the kids let off some steam in the children’s play park which is in view. For those keen to get out and explore, grab the dogs’ leads and lace up your boots for the island’s many walking and cycling trails, offering stunning panoramic views of the coast and countryside – the perfect holiday activity for canine chums.
