Bring the whole gang – four-legged friends included – to this sleek and stylish Welsh retreat, with room for eight people and incredible views all around. It’s set in 2.5 acres of greenery between Welshpool (6 miles) and Newtown (8 miles). The luxury home makes an ideal base for exploring rural Mid Wales, with the village of Berriew (3 miles) close by for dog-friendly pub lunches and deli delights.
This smart, single-storey lodge combines contemporary design with lofty ceilings, large windows and gorgeous wooden accents. On arrival, hang up leads and boots in the roomy entrance before heading through to the light-filled open-plan living area. Dogs will love curling up by the floor-to-ceiling glass wall while you chat, cook and relax with fellow guests. At bedtime, take your pick of the four generous bedrooms: three super-king-size zip-and-links (which can be converted to twins on request) – one with a Smart TV and en-suite bathroom – plus one beautiful super-king. Two separate shower rooms provide plenty of space to freshen up after muddy walks. Outside, your pups can potter safely on the enclosed decked terrace while you soak tired limbs in the bubbling hot tub. There’s a charcoal BBQ and dining area for laid-back meals under the stars, and the 2.5-acre shared grounds are a dream for exploring. Parking is provided for two cars.
There’s plenty for pup-loving adventurers nearby, whether it’s sniffing along the Montgomery Canal towpath or hopping aboard the Welshpool and Llanfair Light Railway (6 miles) for a lazy day out. Head to Montgomery (3 miles) for castle ruins (dogs on short leads welcome on the ground-floor levels) and quaint streets with independent shops. The Offa’s Dyke Path is ideal for longer hikes, while Gregynog Hall (both 6 miles) welcome dogs in the gardens, so even your canine companions can absorb a bit of culture.
