Prepare for a romantic and restful stay at this stylish lodge in the heart of Mid Wales, ideal for couples and their canine companions seeking a peaceful countryside escape. It’s located within a sleepy hamlet between Welshpool (6 miles) and Newtown (8 miles), and is a great base for discovering the area’s natural beauty with your furry friends. Within 1.5 miles there’s a friendly pub and a chance to glimpse history at the 17th-century Garthmyl Hall, whose preened garden you can visit with dogs on short leads.
Upon arrival at this luxury retreat, whose countryside views stretch for miles, climb the galvanised steps to reach the entrance. Inside, the open-plan lodge is airy and spacious, with a double-height ceiling, wooden ceiling beams and big patio doors that let in lots of light (and a breeze for when your dog fancies a noseful of country smells). The living area is cosy and inviting, with a Smart TV and a comfortable sofa to curl up on with your pets at your feet. The ground-floor shower room is sleek and modern. Upstairs on the mezzanine is a super-king-size bedroom with more of those gorgeous views. Outside is an enclosed balcony with a private hot tub and seating area – fab for relaxing while your dog lazes close by. The garden space is a real highlight, with 2.5 acres to explore and a secure paddock where your pooch can run free. There’s parking for one car. Please note: the steps up to the lodge are steep.
You’ll be surrounded by open space, scenic walks and a whole lot of fresh air. For excellent walks, sniff out Offa’s Dyke National Trail or along the scenic Montgomery Canal towpath (3 miles) which takes you to the Pond Nature Reserve (8 miles), a fantastic spot for wildlife lovers. Steam-train-loving canines can hop aboard the Welshpool and Llanfair Light Railway (10.5 miles). Gregynog Hall and Gardens (7 miles) has lovely trails you can follow with your pets on leads. For an urban day out in town, Montgomery (3 miles) has independent shops and a Norman castle.
