So close to the sea the waves are practically lapping at the door, this bright and breezy cottage makes a marvellous coastal getaway for a couple or small family in the quirky fishing town of Whitstable. Bring your two small four-pawed friends to run along the shingle beach, and relax at the end of the day watching gorgeous sunsets from your private balcony.
Head through the courtyard and up the steps to enter this smartly decorated, comfortable property. Gather in the open-plan kitchen/diner to prepare hearty breakfasts and delicious suppers, chatting round the table or relaxing in the armchair. There’s also a shower room on the ground floor. The light and airy lounge is upstairs, all the better to make the most of the wonderful sea views. If you feel like a cosy evening in, simply lower the blind and snuggle up on the soft seating, your pups by your feet, light the wood burner and stream a show on the Smart TV. The pretty twin bedroom is also on this level, while the king-size room (with more amazing views through its huge window) is on the second floor, along with a family bathroom which boasts a free-standing bath and separate shower. The property has no less than two west-facing balconies, both with glorious sea views – one off the kitchen/diner and a smaller one off the lounge. For meals and drinks alfresco there’s also a dining table and BBQ in the courtyard at the front.
When you’ve explored the cafes, pubs and restaurants around your cottage (don’t forget to try some oysters!), put on the leads and take your canine companions to explore Kent’s coastal footpaths or Blean Woods Nature Reserve, 6.5 miles. For culture and retail therapy, Canterbury, with its magnificent cathedral and historic streets, is just 8 miles.
