Have a ball with Fido by your side at this incredible romantic rural retreat in the heart of the countryside on the Holkham Estate, perfect for a couple and their furry friend. Take the lead and explore the estate or head out for walkies on the beach, then soak in the roll-top bath before relaxing in the garden area taking in the stunning surroundings.

There are two holiday homes in this amazing, quirky Grade-I listed property, with elegant interiors and country views. Step inside the lounge/diner with a plush sofa to curl up on in front of the TV or with a good book, and a dining table just for two. The chic kitchen is tucked away at the end with a combination oven and a two-ring hob for cooking meals. There’s also a cloakroom and the WC on the ground floor. Climb the twisting staircase up to the first floor and your bedroom, with a king-size bed and a luxurious roll-top bath, which can be curtained off. Please be mindful of the low ceilings and limited space due to the character of the building. Heading outside, take a seat at the bistro table amid the gorgeous grounds of the estate.

Grab the lead and head out on a wonderful walk exploring the historic parkland and woodland on the estate. You’ll also find a lake and a deer park, as well as bike hire, a gift shop, and a restaurant within the park. To give Fido a good run, head to the coast at Holkham Beach (6.5 miles away) and walk the 3.5 miles through the forest or on the beach to Wells-next-the-Sea stopping off at the beach cafe to treat Fido to an ice cream, then head into town for some fish and chips.

We loved The Triumphal Arch East! It was so cosy and exactly what I had hoped. Super warm and never felt like it was too chilly to use the roll top bath. Lovely touch with the welcome treats from Holkham Estate (including dog biscuits for the dog - awwwww). Really couldn't have been happier with our stay.

A little jewel. Cosy and comfortable in a great location. Very well planned accommodation in such a small space. We have previously stayed in other conversions of historic buildings and the Arch compared favourably with them.

We loved our stay in this very individual property. It is beautifully sited and we enjoyed cycling from there into and through the estate, being able to take our time visiting different parts over several days and going through and out to the beach. We knew before we came that the apartment would be small and we were very happy with that. It was hRead moreonestly described, very cleverly and attractively designed and had everything we needed. The kitchen is fine for cooking simple meals for two, or, with some ingenuity, rather special ones! Clearly if someone wants space and an oven they should look further afield but if you want a relaxing, simple stay in a magical place then this is for you. I would like to give a special mention to Holkham Hall and the management team who have created and maintain a great place. Very interesting and lots to think about and a privilege to have lived in the middle of it for a week. Hide

We did enjoy our stay... but we wouldn't go back. No oven, tiny fridge, the toilet is in the kitchen and the bath is in the bedroom. not very clean when we stayed unfortunately. The place is tiny! We did get over it and really enjoy our break, there are loads of nice walks.

The cottage is in a truly beautiful location, and the building itself is naturally and historically splendid. It was also in excellent order upon arrival. However, the kitchen is extremely smallno more than 5 feet by 5 feet of usable floor spacemaking it impossible for two people to stand in it comfortably. The cooking utensils were so limited and Read moresmall that I found it very difficult to prepare a proper meal. For me, being able to cook is an important part of staying in a holiday cottage, so this was disappointing. I would say the cottage is only really suitable for those who plan to dine out at local restaurants rather than self-cater. On that basis, I feel the price is quite high unless you're paying solely for the charm and aesthetic appeal. That said, the holiday cottage staff were very helpful when I called to explain that I had brought 150 worth of meat for myself and my dog, only to find that the fridge offered minimal spacea tiny icebox the size of a narrow shoebox, completely blocked with ice. It took me around 40 minutes to chip it out with a knife just to make space for some milk and other essentials. Fortunately, the estate team were very accommodating and kindly gave me access to a small fridge and freezer in another cottage nearby, which resolved the issue. I didnt mind walking the extra 50 yards to use it as needed. In conclusion, I think the propertys description should more clearly reflect the limited practicality of the kitchen and fridge facilities so that guests know what to expect. Its a lovely cottage in many ways, but its not ideally suited to guests planning to cook or store fresh food during their stay. Response from holidaycottages.co.uk: Thank you for your review. Poor value for money. Speeding cars through the property. Cottage was not meticulously cleaned as stated by the owner, cobwebs in the corners of the rooms and dead flys in every window. Response from holidaycottages.co.uk: Thank you for your review. Well investigate this right away to make sure everythings in place for the next guest.

Tiny but beautiful building in a stunning location. Let down by lack of attention to detail. The locking system on the exterior door was a particularly concerning aspect for me. The double doors had obviously been previously fitted with a more substantial top and bottom locking system. However, this had been modified/removed, leaving a very simple Read moresingle Yale lock in the middle. This means that when the door is locked it can still be pushed in by an alarming amount. I appreciate that the threat of burglary is not perhaps a major issue in such a lovely rural area, but one should be confident that personal possessions are secure when one is out for the day. Security concerns forced me to ensure that no valuables were left in the property whilst we were out. Other irritants were relatively minor - lack of attention to detail in some areas of cleanliness, lack of tea/coffee mugs and iced-up unusable freezer compartment. Positives include the stunning tranquil location, filmic exterior and a superb mattress. Response from holidaycottages.co.uk: Thank you for your review. We're sorry to hear about your experience and appreciate your feedback as it helps us improve our service. Hide
