In a gorgeous rural spot in scenic South Devon, this barn conversion offers the opportunity for a luxurious getaway for up to six guests and two dogs – ideal for family trips or groups of friends. It’s one of four cottages on the site in Broadhempston, a charming village 5.5 miles north of Totnes. You’ll have shared access to an impressive array of facilities to enjoy during your stay, including a hot tub, a swimming pool, a four-acre orchard and a veranda.
This delightful cottage, made from lovely untreated stone, features slate tiles and traditional vaulted ceilings upstairs for that rustic feel. You’ll enter into the attractive kitchen and dining room which has a large table and chairs for those extended holiday meals, located beside French windows letting plenty of light in. Evenings can be spent in the cosy living room, sinking into the corner sofa with the wood burner crackling as your dog nods off on the patterned rug. The shared outdoor spaces are excellent for relaxing with fellow guests and your pets, with a large lawned area that’s ideal for those sudden bursts of doggie energy and a coal BBQ for al fresco feasts.
You’ll find a dog-friendly pub and a shop less than a mile from your front door, and plenty of pet-appropriate activities in the surrounding area including extended walkies in the Dartmoor National Park 11.5 miles away. Totnes is a wonderful spot for a day out, with its quirky shops and pretty scenery with the River Dart running through. If the sea air calls, head to Torquay (10.5 miles) where you’ll find doggie-friendly beaches as well as a harbour and marina to explore.
