Tucked away in the South Devon countryside, this rural retreat in Broadhempston is ideal for families and friends seeking a slower pace of life. The three-bedroom property welcomes two canine buddies, and you’ll find a myriad of tranquil walking routes to explore nearby, or further afield in Dartmoor National Park (11.5 miles). Heading to the coast, you can also enjoy days out to the seaside resorts of Torquay (10 miles) and Paignton (11.5 miles). After a day of exploring, dine alfresco in the courtyard or unwind in the shared hot tub.

The converted stone barn forms part of a small complex of similar holiday homes. The property has a reverse-level layout and is reached via a few eternal stone steps directly into the first floor. This bright and spacious lounge/kitchen/diner boasts an impressive vaulted ceiling, exposed beams, and wooden floorboards. Along the far wall is a sleek kitchen area for preparing tasty feasts for the group, which you can share around the large dining table. In the evenings, stretch out on the plush, L-shaped sofa to watch the Smart TV whilst Rover and Fido toast their toes next to the wood burner. Heading downstairs, you’ll find three tastefully decorated bedrooms, two of which have French doors opening onto the shared terrace. The double bedroom has an en-suite shower room, and there’s also a family bathroom on this level. Outside, enjoy family BBQs in the courtyard in summer months. You and your canine sidekicks are also welcome to explore the shared orchard and gardens, where you’ll find additional furniture for outdoor dining. Sip a sundowner on the shared veranda at the end of a busy day, or sink into the shared sunken hot tub to revive weary limbs. You’ll also have access to a shared, heated, indoor swimming pool. Private parking is available in the shared car park.

The bustling towns of Dartmouth (18 miles) and Totnes (6 miles) are within easy reach, both of which have a good range of paw-friendly shops and open-air markets to browse with the hounds. The South Devon coast has some fabulous, woof-welcoming beaches, including Goodrington Sands (11.5 miles) in Paignton and Slapton Sands (19 miles) near Kingsbridge. Nearby doggy days out include the National Trust’s Greenway (14.5 miles) and Buckfast Abbey (6 miles), where you and the woofers are welcome to amble around the beautiful grounds.
