This rural bolthole sits amongst the peaceful South Devon countryside, just outside the village of Broadhempston. The property welcomes four guests and one canine friend and makes a lovely couples’ retreat or base for a small family. A network of walking trails branch away from the holiday home, and you’ll also be within easy reach of the wild and remote Dartmoor National Park (11.5 miles). After a long dog walk, revive weary legs in the shared hot tub or enjoy a relaxing swim in the indoor pool.
The semi-detached stone cottage is reached via a couple of steps and forms part of a small complex of similar holiday homes. The bright and airy property is decorated in a contemporary style, with a calming colour palette and a collection of cute accessories and pretty artwork. Enter the cottage into the open-plan lounge/kitchen/diner, where you’ll find a sleek kitchen area for whipping up tasty feasts for the group and a dining table with views of the garden. In the evenings, curl up on the sofa to watch the Smart TV whilst Rover dozes next to the wood burner-effect electric fire. With hard floors and direct access to the garden, this room is the ideal place to set up the dog bed. Upstairs, two tastefully decorated bedrooms await, both with impressive vaulted ceilings. A refreshing family bathroom completes the accommodation. Outside, enjoy al fresco dining on the sunny patio to the front of the cottage. You and your waggy-tailed chum are also welcome to explore the shared orchard and the lawned garden, where you’ll find further areas for outdoor dining. In addition, you’ll also have access to a fabulous, shared veranda with a sunken hot tub, as well as a shared indoor swimming pool. Private parking is available in the shared car park.
The vibrant market towns of Totnes (6 miles) and Dartmouth (18 miles) are both within easy reach. Spend time exploring their fine collection of independent shops and ambling around the open-air markets. Both towns also have a fabulous choice of paw-friendly eateries. The South Devon coast is awash with woof-welcoming beaches, and nearby highlights include Castle Cove, Sugary Cove, and Slapton Sands (all within 20 miles). There are some excellent, long-distance walking trails in the area to sniff and explore with Rover, such as the Dart Valley Trail and the South West Coast Path.
