This elegant single-storey stone cottage sits on a quaint complex of properties on a working farm at the edge of the market town of Richmond. Delivering rural seclusion at its best, it sleeps four people over two bedrooms and welcomes two canine companions – making it the perfect country bolthole for small families or groups of friends that want to enjoy some fabulous country walks with their pups. Spend your days exploring North Yorkshire’s legendary landscapes, and your evenings relaxing in the hot tub.
Pull up a chair in the conservatory and enjoy garden views as you sip your morning coffee and plan the day ahead. After a day rambling through the fields, if you have some muddy paws to deal with, you’ll be glad to find a handy outdoor shower back at the cottage. When pups (and owners) are clean, head to the kitchen/diner to cook up a storm for your loved ones. Dine around the large table and then make your way outside to sink into the wood-fired hot tub. Pour yourself a glass of something cool and crisp and let the bubbles work their magic. Alternatively, head to the snug and watch your favourite TV shows as your pups snooze by the wood burner. At the end of the day, there are two beautiful bedrooms to choose from.
There are lots of walks to enjoy around the owner’s farm. One footpath even takes you to a private lake, so it’s worth packing a picnic. Alternatively, Richmond Castle (8 miles) is a wonderful place for walkies. Built in 1071, it is one of the oldest Norman stone fortresses in Britain. Further afield, take your pups for a stroll at Egglestone Abbey (14 miles), where you’ll find the ruins of a small monastery sitting above the River Tees.
