Canine Comfort: Amazing gardens for you and your dog

Kate W 01 April 2025

Nothing quite beats the feeling of arriving at a holiday cottage ready to relax. While the humans explore the interior, we suspect your four-pawed companion will be keen to race out into the fresh air to investigate the garden!

Our Canine Comfort collections celebrate some of our very best properties, and this latest one is all about amazing gardens. Discover cottages with dog paddocks, woodlands, outdoor showers and more wonderful features loved by our floppy-eared best pals.

The best bit? £20 of every Canine Comfort property booking gets donated to Battersea, our proud partners, to ensure support for every dog and cat. Read on for cottages with gardens that both you and your dog will adore, or dig through our full cottage range by clicking the button below.

Llyn Brenig Cottage, North Wales

The secret garden with a fire pit, bird's-eye view of the farmhouse, two springer dogs, and walking boots with a map.

Sleeps 5 dogs and 6 humans

This light-filled, sophisticated cottage on a rural country lane is part of our North Wales collection and is a favourite cottage pick that we simply had to share with our canine travel elite. Meadows and fields spread out in all directions, with distant mountain views to complete your backdrop.

When it comes to this cottage’s dog-friendly gardens, you be thrilled to discover there’s not one but two! Both gravelled, the main garden boasts 8ft high fences, a pergola providing shade for your dog during hot days, and an enchanting hot tub for the humans of your group to enjoy in peace. The second secret garden is a real gem – this one is not 100% dog-secure so some pups may need to be on a lead in this space, but it is enclosed with a fire pit, and a view of animals, including friendly pigmy goats. There’s plenty of enrichment for your dog at this fantastic farm cottage.

Extra dog-friendly features

  • Two beautiful gravel-coated gardens – one boasting shade, 8ft fences and a hot tub!
  • Farm track setting with animals so our pup pals have plenty to sniff out
  • Welcome pack with doggy treats

Plum Tree Cottage, Yorkshire

The cottage exterior, a table and chairs with the garden beyond, a furnished conservatory, and a black labrador in the dog shower.

Sleeps 2 dogs and 4 humans

Ready to impress, this elegant retreat in our North Yorkshire portfolio is filled with stylish tiling, furnishings and wall décor too. A breakfast hamper and a charming conservatory are a couple of the highlights. Every inch of this property has been thought through, and that includes the wonderfully dog-friendly garden.

A lovely lawn for our canine pals to race around on, a dedicated outdoor dog shower for rinsing muddy paws after days out, and a hot tub and traditional seating for the humans of the group, all ensure a memorable getaway for the whole family. The wider farm surrounding this retreat has delightful dog walks, including a trail that leads to a private lake. Please consider whether or not you and your canine are up for a visit as the lake is not fenced off.

Extra dog-friendly features

  • Outside dedicated dog shower
  • Wonderful private lawn and a wider rural estate with walking trails
  • Doggy welcome pack

The Bolthole and Warren, Kent

View across the lawn of the two cottages, plus a photo of a hot tub, and two photos showing the bedrooms.

Sleeps 3 dogs and 6 humans

These two beautiful holiday cottages in our Kent collection can be booked separately or together, The Bolthole and Warren provide a welcoming retreat for a family and their three dogs – the whole pack will have a wonderful time exploring this scenic corner of Kent. Stay in the two-person or four-person cabin – each property boasts its own fenced-off lawn area, private hot tub and chimenea.

The second, larger cabin also hosts a wonderful seating area with a seasonal canopy so that hot dogs get the chance to cool off in the shade on sunny days. When it comes to our waggy-tailed chums, you’ll find outdoor hot taps – so no need for a chilly rinse after muddy dog walks – and dog towels for drying off afterwards so everyone can collapse together, feeling clean and dry.

Extra dog-friendly features

  • Fenced-off lawn area
  • Doggie towels in the central kitchen for wiping muddy paws
  • External warm and cold taps

English Oak Lodge, Sussex

Two chairs in a forest, a field, the exterior of the cabin, and a gravel area with two picnic benches.

Sleeps 2 dogs and 2 humans

Hide away at this charming little lodge in the Sussex countryside with the four-legged family member in tow. It offers plenty for the human members of your group, with a private hot tub, a fire pit and a shared games room and tennis court where you can keep fit during your getaway.

When it comes to our canine companions, this property is home to a wonderful, partially enclosed private garden, plus a dog paddock that’s shared by all the properties on the site. Your family pup can race about to their heart’s content and really stretch their legs with ball games and chasing their own tail in this excellent dog-dedicated outdoor space. If you're planning a stay in Sussex, we couldn't recommend this cottage more.

Extra dog-friendly features

  • All have access to a dog paddock
  • A lovely woodland for digging and wildlife watching
  • Sliding glass doors lead onto a lawn

Journey’s End, Devon
