The traditional seaside resort of Ventnor on the Isle of Wight has been attracting visitors (and their four-legged friends!) since Victorian times. Its unique and celebrated micro-climate makes its beach an inviting sun trap and allows the exotic flora and fauna of Ventnor Botanic Gardens to flourish. Ventnor still exudes a flavour of the Victorian, with converted ‘bathing machines’ lining the back of the beach. On the promenade, you’ll find an arcade packed with traditional amusements, or keep things natural with a wander through the beautiful Cascade Gardens which tumble down the cliffside. One of Ventnor’s most loved attractions is the paddling pool complete with a raised map of the Isle of Wight, and while dogs are not allowed in, they can head off on a scenic stroll with one party member while the children have a splash around. Somewhere which will keep both children and pets amused, however, is Blackgang Chine amusement park, where dogs are allowed on leads.
