Go barking mad for this stunning property, where character and charm are combined with luxury touches to create the perfect stay. After a long day of exploring Scotland’s unrivalled countryside with your canine companions dutifully at your heels, unwind in rooms warmed by open fires, snuggling into cosy bath robes left out for you by the owners. Find five comfortable bedrooms with more than enough space for 11 guests and two beloved bowows to stay.

This 16th-century castle has been thoughtfully renovated with a stylish eye, pairing a contemporary and luxurious style with unique original features. Sit under dark oak beams, sleep in the eaves of the property and marvel at the unforgettable fireplace in the great hall. On arrival, head straight to the utility room and remove muddy boots and wet coats, giving your four-pawed pals a quick clean before heading upstairs to unwind. This old property is filled with cosy spots for canines to curl up, including the constantly warm Aga in the kitchen, wood burner in the study and grand open fire in the great hall. Whilst human members of the pack head upstairs to sleep in handmade Duxiana beds, Fido and Rover will no doubt find no shortage of warm sleeping spots on the ground and first floors.

Head to the Yarrow Valley (16 miles) for undisturbed views and stunning walking routes. Leave no stick unfetched in the Glentress Forest (12 miles), where an abundance of hiking and mountain biking routes will impress both man and dog. Younger guests might even want to swing into Go Ape for a fun-filled afternoon. Be sure to explore some local Scottish towns, including the popular Melrose just 9.5 miles away. A trip to Edinburgh won’t take long in the car, located just 32 miles away from the property.

It was an absolute privilege to stay at Aikwood Tower with family and friends. It is an extremely well appointed and comfortable property, which has been lovingly restored. We would highly recommend Aikwood Tower for a holiday or a family gathering.

Aikwood Tower was everything we hoped it would be. A castle to the little ones. A party venue for the birthday boy. Relaxing sofas with sumptuous upholstery and oh so comfy beds! A kitchen in which to create, drink, chat, host and be hosted. Extra touches like the coffee station halfway up the stairs and the generous supply of detergent tablets, coRead moreffee pods, bathrobes. The very exciting welcome pack and the always friendly, always helpful answers to so many questions. Very highly recommended. Hide
