For a comfortable holiday in the heart of the Scottish Highlands, stay at this modern property with your friends and pets. With for six humans and three dogs, this self-catered home is perfect for family groups or birthday celebrations among friends. Spend sunny days exploring the Munros, lochs and beaches of this green and scenic part of Scotland, followed by cosy evenings in with your feet up and your pets snoozing happily at your feet.
This brand new architect-designed cottage has a clean, contemporary feel. The open-plan living space is ideal for spending quality time with your fellow guests, either preparing meals in the well-equipped kitchen or warming your toes by the wood burner (which heat-loving dogs will go mutts for). The light and airy lounge area reveals lovely views through large windows; lay out an Ordnance survey map to trace the route for tomorrow's walk. Outside, patios either side of the property contain garden furniture for sitting and soaking up the sunshine with coffee. The huge enclosed garden is the ideal place for your fluffy friends to play with their battered old balls.
This rural spot abounds with walking, cycling and fishing opportunities – or why not sniff out a whisky distillery to taste some delicious single malt? Alness (4 miles) has shops and supermarkets for picking up supplies. If you (and the dogs) have good legs, head up one of the surrounding peaks. Beinn Tharsuinn, a round heathery hill with fantastic views, is about a 11-mile hike starting from Strathrory Bridge (5 miles). The 4-mile hike up Ben Wyvis, the Munro dominating the hills to the west of the house, is another great option. For access, the path can be joined 18 miles away. For watery wanders, take the dogs to Loch Morie (10.5 miles) or Loch Glass (16 miles) where they can have fun splashing.
