Set in a cobbled courtyard in the heart of the village of Appledore, this charming cottage for a couple or small family and their four-legged friend is less than 100 metres from the water’s edge and offers the perfect base from which to explore the gorgeous North Devon coastline. Discover beautiful hidden covers, roam the South West Coast Path and roam the heights of Exmoor.
Formally a fishing cottage, a pretty stable door welcomes you home. Stepping inside you enter a cosy open-plan living space with stone floors underfoot, accents of wood, comfortable seating and a warming wood burner that's sure to be a hit with the hound. The kitchen is small but perfectly formed and comes complete with everything a holiday chef could need. Upstairs, two attractive bedrooms await tired legs and whether you sleep in bed or basket, a good night's sleep shall be had by all. Though this property has no outside space of its own, the shingle and sand shoreline is 60 metres away, and there is a children's play area and a park at the end of the road with plenty of space for a game of fetch.
With its pretty streets lined with galleries, restaurants, tearooms and cafes, there’s a lot to sample in Appledore. Don't miss out on the excellent local pubs either, where canine companions are welcome to join you at the bar. Hop onboard the seasonal ferry, which takes passengers and pets across to Instow and head to the huge sandy beach with unrestricted access for Fido to frolic year-round. Nearby Exmoor National Park is home to some of the country’s most dramatic scenery and offers walking opportunities galore over high tors and through lush wooded valleys. Alternatively, take the 13-mile road to Clovelly and visit this unique cliffside preservation village with cobbled steps leading to a traditional harbour where dogs on leads can join you too.
