What could be finer for groups of friends, families and canine companions than this majestic lodge, set on the banks of the River Ness between mystical Loch Ness and the ancient and vibrant city of Inverness (both 4 miles)? Become Lords and Ladies of all you survey, if only whilst exploring this exquisite region of Scotland. Fish along the river (by arrangement), spotting otters, stags and eagles as you go. Explore the winding lanes of Inverness, and its plethora of independent shops, restaurants, galleries, museums, parks and canine-cordial pubs, like the brilliant Black Isle Bar & Rooms. Wonder at soaring Inverness Cathedral and the statuesque clifftop Castle, standing strong for 1000 years.

You’ll get the baronial feel of this exquisite lodge long before entering its glowing hall and see the branching staircase. At the heart of the open-plan ground floor is the sumptuous living room with its double-height ceiling, imposing hearth, stag’s head and sumptuous sofas, the dining/banquet room with its antler chandelier and the marvellous kitchen. Enjoy fabulous local seafood feasts, whisky gatherings around the crackling fire and al fresco banquets in the private garden. Unwind with a nightcap in the library and a deep Highland sleep in one of the seven dreamy double bedrooms (six upstairs), each with its own elegant en-suite. Views over the landscape and Loch Ness from the higher rooms are sublime.

Bask on fur-tastic beaches at picturesque Avoch and fabulous Fortrose, with its historic golf course and dolphins, especially prevalent just after low tide. Take a boat tour around Loch Ness to hunt the elusive beast, or an earthier one around the Tomatin Distillery (19 miles). Visit Baronial Beaufort Castle (16.5 miles), the romantic ruins of Urquhart Castle on Loch Ness (18 miles) and play the round of your life at Castle Stuart (11 miles).
