Sleeping eight guests, the four-bedroom property nestles in five acres of glorious grounds at Gilwern, 5 miles from Abergavenny, and with beautiful gardens to unwind in as well, the exquisite holiday home is nothing less than a paradise for both pups and people.

Head inside the airy retreat to find ample space for your family, friends and four-legged chum. Pull walking boots off and hang dog leads in the spacious reception hall, which also has access to a WC. Wander through to the ground-floor kitchen to pop damp dog towels into the washing machine in the adjoining utility room, then feed your hungry hound and put Sunday lunch in to roast for everyone else. Also at this level is one of your lounges, with doors on to the garden and a TV, plus some of your bedrooms and bathrooms. These include two twin rooms, one with an en-suite wet room and the other with an en-suite shower room, plus a double bedroom, with en-suite shower room. Another double bedroom, with an en-suite bathroom and an extra day bed for a young child, is on the first floor. Also here, is the generous, open-plan lounge/kitchen/diner, with additional kitchen facilities and another TV. Take your chum out into the garden as often as wishes. Light the BBQ and sit out around the outdoor, open fire long into the night with your canine companion beside you.

Set out from the barn with your delighted dog to explore the scenic, wooded Clydach Gorge. Venture 2 miles to stretch furry legs with walks alongside the magnificent River Usk. Head into Abergavenny or Crickhowell, 4 miles away, for jolly group meals in dog-friendly pubs.

Old Rectory Barn is a gorgeous property and Hilary and Graham are wonderful hosts who are there if you need them. It was perfect for our 3 generation family visiting the area with 2 cars and lots of comings and goings. Everyone had a fantastic time. Thank you.

Cottage owner Hilary very helpful and friendly. The cottage was comfortable and clean and had everything we needed for our week away, including use of the adjoining locked shed to store our bicycles. The area around the cottage was lovely, with footpaths close by and quiet roads for cycling and excellent canoeing on the Wye from Symonds Yat.

The cottage is in a great location, not far off the main road but hidden away to be peaceful. The owners were very welcoming and we felt settled as soon as we put our bags down in our room. Lots of good information about the cottage and the local area, which to people that are new to the area is very helpful. The layout/configuration is fantastic fRead moreor a group or for families with grandparents as you can be together, but also have your own space. Absolutely stunning and we hope to come back. Hide

We loved it here. The barn was warm, well equipped, and comfortable, and we felt very welcome. Being located right next to fields with livestock, we needed to keep a very close eye on the dogs, but we didnt mind (we loved watching the lambs!). With three households sharing, the layout was, for us, excellent; the two living areas meant we could findRead more space to escape if we needed to, or come together to eat or relax. Altogether excellent! Hide
