Property code: BN237

Delightful, secluded cottage, providing a perfect base for small families or couples looking to explore the mid Wales countryside, with long walks and cycle routes on the doorstep.

Sitting north of the Brecon Beacons National Park, with plenty of places to explore from your door, this abode welcomes lovers of the outdoors, especially those with wet noses and tufty paws! Stay close to home or travel 14 miles to the Elan Valley, home to stick-chasing spots, farmland and reservoirs. After days spent exploring, kick back on the comfortable sofa, moving only to tickle a tummy or put the kettle on.

Whisk the family inside and unpack provisions in the kitchen where there is plenty of storage for all of your treats and ingredients. When it’s time to plate up, dine at the table in the lounge or serve up outside on the patio where you can admire the views and watch your pup chase their tail (please be aware of neighbouring sheep). Put your feet and paws up in the lounge for a relaxing evening in front of the TV, or with a good book. When you return from adventures, make your way into the laundry room (shared with the neighbouring barn), to towel off any mud and store wet boots. As night comes, climb stairs to the first floor where two pretty bedrooms invite you to drift off and the family shower room helps you wake and feel refreshed in the morning.

For an exciting day in the Brecon Beacons National Park climbing peaks and chasing balls, journey via Brecon (22 miles) and tuck into something tasty to energise you. A visit to the bustling market town is a great way to start your day and is home to a handful of dog-friendly pubs, the Brecon Canal Basin and shops at which you can pick up treats for the rest of the day. Whilst exploring nearby Builth Wells (10.5 miles), make sure you pay the castle remains a visit.

Dogs are charged at £20 each per full or part week.

We had a wonderful family holiday at Mawr Cottage. The location is beautiful, quiet, perfect for getting away from the daily hustle and bustle, including a break from the digital world as there is no phone or wifi signal. There are great walks and places to cycle nearby. We enjoyed visiting the Elan valley, Gilfach nature reserve and the towns of BRead moreuilth Wells and Llandrindod Wells. Both towns had good parks for our six year old son and places to walk our dog. We'll definitely be returning. Hide

This is a lovely cottage with a lot of space for three people. It is well equipped and in a remote beautiful location, with great views of the Cambrian mountains. The host was very good. The nearby areas are also lovely included the Eden Valley dams and reservoirs, and Llandridrod Wells and Rhayader

We had a short break at Cottage Mawr, we were met by Mary the owner of the cottage who gave us a warm welcome. The cottage was spotlessly clean and well equipped for the duration of the holiday.. The cottage was ideally located for nearby attractions. We had a supply of essential item which were left in the cottage and to top it off was a freshly mRead moreade victoria sandwich which was delicious. Hide

The cottage was spotlessly clean and very comfortable with COVID precautions in place. It was well provided with all necessities and everything worked. Difficult to suggest areas that could be improved but a tea cosy would be nice. The laminated information pages were excellent but they would be even better in a ring binder. If the front of the farRead moremhouse could be tidied up it would improve the first impression for new arrivals. Thinning out the hazel and hedgerow at the back of the cottage would allow more sunlight onto the patio. Nearest pub the Red Lion is closed, but the Trout Inn at Beulah is very good. Hide

We took Mawr and Bach cottages together for our family which worked brilliantly. Both cottages are very well equipped and were spotlessly clean throughout. The welcome goodies were well very welcome and a lovely touch. This area is so quiet and beautiful and the walks were breathtaking. We will definitely be revisiting some time soon.
