Property code: MASTR

Traditional terraced cottage situated on a quiet lane in the estuary front village of Appledore in North Devon, and just two miles from the beach in the neighbouring village of Instow.

Situated on the cobbled streets of Appledore, this cottage is in the perfect setting for a couple’s getaway - with coastal walks, locals’ pubs, and seafood restaurants all to choose from. There is an array of pubs and restaurants that welcome your furry friends. The property, with its exposed beams and wood burner, has a charming cottage feel to it which will easily make you feel right at home.

As you walk through the front door you arrive in the lounge/dining area. With an interior made up of wooden floors and light walls, this area is decorated to maximise space and offers plenty of room for Fido to roam. Make yourselves comfortable around the fire, the ideal place to eat treats and make use of the Freeview TV/DVD by putting on a film. Venturing up the steep wooden steps you will come to the first floor where you can find a double bedroom, shower room with WC and a snug with views out to sea. This is the perfect place to enjoy that morning coffee before heading out for the day.

A day out for everyone can be found at Westward Ho! just 2.5 miles away. The beach welcomes people and dogs alike, but ensure you enter the beach over the walkway at the pebble ridge bridge in summer months when restrictions are in place. Before you leave, why not try your luck at the amusement arcades? Spend your evenings down at The Beaver, where four legs are just as welcome as two. Here you will find real ale, views across to Saunton Sands and the town of Barnstaple, and if you’re lucky you may even catch some live music.

Dogs are charged at £20 each per full or part week.

Our cottage was outstanding. It was quite posh yet it felt very homely. The facilities were excellent. It is close to the local shops and an excellent fish and chip shop. Meeting street is a bit steep.

Having visited Appledore before we were aware of the car parking restrictions so pre purchased a tourist permit for Churchfields car park. Very convenient location on Irsha street for shops/pubs/restraints. The info warns that the stairs are steep - they are! So be aware & a challenge even for someone who is reasonably fit & able.

We wanted a short break in a quiet location not too far from home. This is exactly what we got at Master Mariner. Appledore is a real gem and views from the upstairs snug of the estuary were a real treat. Parking was not an issue and we stayed in the village sampling the many excellent places to eat and drink.

The cottage was ideal for what we wanted and perfectly located. It is just the right size for a couple. The chairs in the snug could do with being more comfortable for more snugging on rainy days. I would happily return

We had a lovely last minute break at the Master Mariner. The cottage is well equipped and well looked after. Entry was easy and directions etc accurate. It's a cosy hideaway with nice views of the estuary from the snug. Appledore is a lovely fishing town but busy in the summer as you'd expect. Unloading luggage can be tricky as the cottage is on a Read morenarrow street which you have to block to stop outside. Foot traffic on road is very close and can be noisy in the evenings. Hide

Loved the homely feeling! All the things you need to cook a meal. The bed was so comfy struggled to get out of it! Quiet, peaceful retreat. With easy access to welcoming pubs , shops and sea views really enjoyed our time here. We will be back sometime in the future. The locals are very helpful and welcoming.

The Master mariner was a beautiful cottage in Appledore. The cottage was very clean and well equipped with stunning views over the water and only a short stroll to the main village water front and pubs. We will 100% be returning.
