This charming cottage set within the traditional market town of Helmsley is brimming with character and is perfect for a family of walkers wanting to explore the North York Moors National Park.

Perfect for pups and five owners, this home is surrounded by places to explore. With National Parks, AONBs and Forest Parks nearby, fill your days with exciting games of fetch and stunning scenic spots before relaxing back at this inviting bolthole. You could even squeeze in a trip to the beach and scatter the sand with footprints and pawprints before tucking into delicious fish and chips in the sea air.

Make your way down the private ‘snickelway’ in the only town in the North York Moors National Park, and head inside this pretty stone cottage. After ditching boots and leads in the entrance hall, get cosy in the lounge/diner where pups can lap up the warmth of the open fire from a good spot on the rug. Simple style flows throughout with warm colours complementing the neutral interior and creating a lovely ambience in which to relax. After some time in front of the screen, lay the table ready for family meals and head into the kitchen to keep the chef company. Throw open the French doors and keep a watchful eye on your pup as they chase their tail in the courtyard and you serve up delicious dishes. Post-dinner, bask in what’s left of the sun in the south-facing courtyard before dishing out any leftovers to your wag-tailed pup and heading to bed in one of the first-floor bedrooms. There is on-road parking.

With so many places to enjoy your morning walkies, follow the Cleveland Way or the Ebor Way which run through the town and get some morning miles in the bag. Well worth the 30-mile trip is a day at the seaside. Cayton Bay welcomes pups all year round so you can enjoy family fun at the beach and make a splash in the ocean after energetic games of fetch.

  • 2 dogs allowed. Dogs are charged at £20 each per full or part week
  • There is an Accidental Damage Deposit of £200 when booking at this property, however this may be waived for £25. We’ll provide more details about this when booking your holiday.

Lavender Cottage is in a fabulous location being less than 200metres from the Market Square. It is well equipped and the owners left milk and a lovely cake for us on arrival. There are some lovely walks (Ash Dale and Cleveland Way to Rievaulx Abbey). The town has many shops, restaurants, cafes and pubs. Fabulous centrally located cottage in Helmsley. The place was spotlessly clean and had all of the home comforts needed. I would 100% recommend this cottage.

Lovely cottage, very tasteful decor, and generally comfortable and cozy. Loved having the open fire in the evening .Great location, short walk into Helmsley and all the shops, cafes and restaurants. Enjoyed the castle, walled garden, Duncombe Park and walk to Riveaux . Had a great week and would recommend visiting in the winter.

Great cottage, very clean, cosy and comfortable. Lovely to be in walking distance of the centre so we could shop or walk to the pubs in the evening. Good base for travelling around and a lovely farm shop just up the road.

We had the most Amazing time at Lavender cottage. So cosy! We celebrated Christmas early and our host made a special effort to make it look so festive! We really didn't want to leave after our wonderful week! Location is perfect! So much to do from the doorstep. Helmsley looked lovely and festive. Big Thanks and will be back soon.

Lavender cottage is in a fantastic location for exploring Helmsley and beyond. Very comfortable king bed and great shower. Full kitchen (except washing machine), lots of crockery/utensils and space for preparing meals. Owner was very responsive and helpful.
