Set in a peaceful rural spot just over 3 miles from Charmouth Bay, this two-bedroom bungalow is a fantastic base for a family and their dog to explore the glittering Jurassic Coast, famed for its dramatic cliffs and fossils. This picturesque area also has an abundance of quintessential English country villages that are perfect for scenic walks and leisurely pub lunches.
The property is tastefully decorated throughout, and the cosy lounge is a welcoming sight after a tiring day of adventures. A door leads out to the enclosed garden, which is safe for the furry one to sprawl out on the lawn and sniff the flower borders. The bright and airy open-plan kitchen/diner is equipped with everything you need to whip up a family meal, and on warm mornings you can take your breakfast out on to the sun terrace. As well as the two bedrooms, there is a handy dressing room that could also be used for a cot if you have a new addition to the family. The utility area is useful for storing throw toys and spare blankets.
The popular sand and shingle beach at Charmouth is great for fossil-hunting and bathing. There’s a dog ban here in summer, but out of season your canine pal can forage among the rock pools and chase balls into the sea to their heart’s content. A pleasant walk 3 miles around the bay will take you to Lyme Regis, where dogs are allowed on Monmouth Beach all year round. Take a stroll around the iconic Cobb harbour, where Meryl Streep famously stood looking out to sea in The French Lieutenant’s Woman.
