Lovely single story cottage with outstanding views, ideal location for wildlife lovers and lots of local opportunities for walking, climbing, biking, guided ranger walks and fishing.  On the outskirts of Newton Stewart with its pubs, small shops and supermarkets.

Sitting in a designated ‘dark skies’ area, this fabulous property is perfect for those who love being out and about; sit beneath the stars with a tipple and a treat after days spent adventuring. Bring your four-legged friend along to discover the best spot for stick-chasing and tail-wagging, too. Return home to this bolthole and unwind in style, ready to refresh and recharge for tomorrow’s excursions.

Sink into comfortable sofas in the charming lounge where patio doors can be thrown open to let the fresh air and sunshine flood inside. Switch on the TV for a cosy evening before heading through to the kitchen in time for dinner. Hungry tummies can be filled in the open-plan kitchen/diner, a smart space which welcomes you to experiment with flavour before savouring each mouthful at the table. Enjoy an al fresco tipple on the patio and gaze across the hills of Galloway whilst your furry guest stretches their legs and sniffs out new scents. Retire to bed in one of two pleasantly styled bedrooms where heads are invited to doze off as they hit the pillows in these peaceful rooms. The master room has an en-suite and a further family bathroom is a great post-walk pit-stop for towelling down soggy fur.

Visit the Kirroughtree visitor centre which is 3.5 miles from home and sits in the Galloway Hills: here you can explore trails, go in search of wildlife and enjoy a spot of mountain biking if you are a two-legged guest. For those of you with four legs who might enjoy a stick chase, paddle or frolic in the sand, travel 14 miles to Garlieston Beach and Wigtown Bay, where dogs are welcomed all year round.

Dogs are charged at £20 each per full or part week.

Warm & comfortable accommodation with spacious rooms and generally well-appointed kitchen. Plenty of easy parking space although the remotely controlled security gate is a minor inconvenience if your party don't all go out together.

The cottage is ideally situated for exploring the Galloway Forest Park, the Machars and the Rhins. It is up a steep track so be prepared if cycling! The owners are friendly and helpful; the property is one of several within a farm complex but was very quiet when we were there. The view from the lounge was lovely even in the rain and we enjoyed watcRead morehing the rabbits scampering on the hillside. Hide
