When you’ve wandered as far as you like along the footpaths accessible from the front garden gate, head to dog-friendly Wilderness Wood (4 miles) where you can explore 62 acres of trails; children will love the bug hunting, camp building and survival activities that run throughout the year. Take a family train ride on the Bluebell Railway (9.5 miles) through stunning scenery. The mile-long Lavender Line (5.5 miles) is worth a trip too. Ashdown Forest (12.5 miles) is ideal for any Winnie the Pooh lover, where Owl and Piglet’s houses are hidden in the trees along with Pooh Bridge.
