A beautiful Grade II listed Captains house, steeped in maritime history and retaining many period features. Located within Polruan a traditional fishing village and within easy reach of Fowey.

Set at the foot of a hill within the traditional Cornish fishing village of Polruan, behind a busy boat yard. Located just across the water from the better-known Fowey and connected to by the Polruan Ferry which crosses the harbour every fifteen minutes. Fowey is a bustling small port with many craft shops, galleries and restaurants and attractive moorings. From here, ferries run to the nearby fishing town of Mevagissey, Boddinick and Polruan. Head slightly further afield and visit Polperro and Looe with their rugged coastlines, small beaches and range of independent shops, galleries, cafes and restaurants.

Enter this quaint traditional Captains House and step into the lounge with sofas, period fire surround and open fire, the perfect place to relax after a day of exploring and enjoy a film on the TV/DVD. Heading into the kitchen/diner which is equipped with electric oven and hob, fridge/freezer, washing machine, tumble dryer and microwave. Gather around the table with seating for four and enjoy breakfast or an evening meal together. At the end of the day head upstairs to the three bedrooms, there is a choice of a double with views across the river, a second small double also enjoying river views and a single. Completing the accommodation is the bathroom with roll top bath and WC.

Outside, there is a rare large private garden with gazebo and harbour views. the garden is areal feature of the property and enables the perfect haven for wild life. There is no parking at the property, however, guests are able to unload directly outside the property and parking is available nearby car parks (charges apply).

Dogs are charged at £20 each per full or part week.

  • Polruan is a quaint little village situated on a very steep hill, so access to some parts of the village can be challenging.
  • Many of the amenities, ferries and cottages in Polruan are accessed via steps some of which can be steep. Please contact us if you have specific requirements.
  • There are many small winding streets that are not suitable for cars, therefore many properties in Polruan do not have private parking. However, there is a large pay and display carpark at the top of the village.

An amazing period cottage in an an even more amazing location. The pictures don't do it justice!! We had a brilliant time and our 2 1/2 year old son loved being so close to the boatyard. Ideally placed for a quick boat trip over to Fowey, crabbing, pubs and a little beach at low tide. We will be back!

Overall, I loved the cottage because it was like someone's home and quirky, full of pictures. Mattresses were more comfortable than in many holiday cottages. Liked the beds. The garden was amazing. Excellent position. Can see the ferry coming. Would go to this cottage again.

Lovely cottage in a very nice little village , ideal spot for a quiet holiday, very steep hill in and out , but 2 nice pubs good village shop and tea room, definitely recommend it.
