With views reaching far over the patchwork hills, this property is the perfect retreat from city life for small families and their four-legged pals. It sits in 1.5 acres of enclosed land, shared with the sister property, so you can throw open the doors and really relish the open space. Take your morning coffee outside to a private corner of lawn and watch the grazing sheep while the kids and pooches explore the grounds. And once they’ve nosed into every corner at home, head off across the fields and discover streams, lanes and cycle routes teeming with wildlife.
The cottage has an open-plan layout and a downstairs shower room, so you can spread out but still be together. The kids can curl up on the chesterfield sofas and watch TV with their furry friends at their feet, while you get cracking with dinner – or perhaps just spread the papers out on the dining table and enjoy a glass of wine. Upstairs the double bedroom has a nook under the eaves that’s the perfect spot for a dog bed, while the kids will love watching the countryside through the low-level window in the twin room.
When you’re ready to venture further afield there is plenty to keep you all busy, from visiting one of the six vast dams that bridge the valley such as Craig Goch, 15 miles away, to wandering around the pretty village of Rhayader, 7 miles away. Grab lunch in one of their dog-friendly pubs before going to watch hundreds of Red Kites at the feeding station. Dogs will love snuffling through Bwlch Nant Yr Arian forest, 15 miles away, and everyone will enjoy a burst of sea air at the coastal town of Aberystwyth, 28 miles from the cottage.
