With some of the country’s best dog walks on the doorstep, this charming wing of a historic manor house is the perfect choice for families, friends and canine companions. Its grand interiors boast stunning views over Grasmere and the River Rothay, so you won’t even need to leave the house to soak up this fabulous location. When you do, however, explore this delightful village before setting off for scenic walks around Windermere and beyond.

This beautiful Lakeland manor house has been tastefully modernised into a light, spacious and welcoming home from home to return to after memorable adventures with the dog. The large kitchen is perfect for rustling up restorative meals for the whole family, with plenty of workspace and a sociable breakfast bar for keeping the chef of the group company. Once prepared, meals are best enjoyed in the grand dining room, which doubles up as a games room for later on. With high vaulted ceilings and a huge bay window offering panoramic views, the lounge is a wonderful space for relaxing after long walks while your faithful friend warms his paws in front of the wood burner. When the day is done choose between the four bedrooms: one king-size with an en-suite bathroom and fabulous views, two doubles and a bunk bedroom for kids. When the sun is shining, there’s no better place to sit and unwind with a glass of wine and a few dog treats than in the private garden.

Offering a number of shops and pubs, Grasmere is best known for its delicious gingerbread sold in its famous shop - a must for anyone visiting the area. Beyond the village, Grasmere Lake, or according to Wordsworth ‘the loveliest spot that man hath ever found’, is sure to inspire all guests, poets, dogs or otherwise. Just 5 miles away, the town of Ambleside boasts an array of shops, pubs, restaurants and watersports for adrenaline junkies.

  • Private garden area for the property,all other gardens are private and are indicated by markers, please respect the neighbours privacy and do not enter the neighbouring gardens
  • Please keep dogs on a lead at all times within the grounds
  • On-site parking for a maximum of 3 cars 
  • Pub and shops within walking distance
  • Arrival: 16:00 onwards
  • Departure: before 10:00, unless otherwise stated in your arrival details
  • 1 dog allowed. Dogs are charged at £20 each per full or part week
  • There is an Accidental Damage Deposit of £350 when booking at this property, however this may be waived for £40. We’ll provide more details about this when booking your holiday.

Beautiful setting overlooking lake. Lovely walk into village but entrance driveway very steep for elderly or disabled. House was freezing on arrival and we had great difficulty trying to understand the thermostat etc.. Garden in a sleep slope so not really useable.

The main feature of this house, is the outstanding view of the lake and surrounding countryside.lovely to view at any time of the day, or season. Nice and close to Grasmere, just a five minute walk. We had a lovely stay during October half term. The view fro the sitting room is amazing, and we loved watching red squirrels and other wildlife. Its an easy walk into Grasmere, the location is great. We did struggle with the heating and hot water settings, this has been fed back to the company.

East House is in a beautiful location with gorgeous views across Grasmere. Five minutes walk to the village where youll find lots of pubs, restaurants, shops and the local coop for all your needs. Advertised enclosed garden not really dog friendly though as your pooch must be kept on lead at all times.

Location was great with a five minute walk into Grasmere. Plenty of red squirrels in the garden to keep us entertained. Very comfortable and peaceful for what we wanted. Lovely views and walks.

Beautiful large house with amazing views across the lake. Wed read previous reviews that were slightly negative about the facilities so were amazed when we arrived by the modern bathrooms and kitchen that are of hotel standard. The house had plenty of DVDs, kids games and the owners left us tea, biscuits & chocs. A lovely touch. It was comfortable,Read more clean and surpassed our expectations. Excellent views of Lake Grasmere. Lovely large Victorian rooms providing great space and cool in the summertime. Still a long walk to the lake but helped by some good coffee at the bottom of the drive. The centre of Grasmere is within east reach and definitely try and book the Jumble Room a long time in advance of your holiday! We will definitely sRead moretay here again Hide

Excellent location for our family holiday in the Lake District. Easily walkable into Grasmere. Property definitely met our needs as a 3 generation family with well equipped kitchen to enable us to dine in as well as out

Warm, well resourced house. Very comfortable and plenty of space for us and our dog. It had everything we needed to relax and also to cook up a storm in the kitchen. The location was superb, just 5 minutes from the village with its shops and eateries/pubs. There are lots of walks locally and it made a perfect base for our trip.

The cottage location and lake views were fantastic. Just a 5 minute walk to Grasmere village. The size of the cottage for our party of 5 adults and 2 children was more than adequate, we had plenty of room to relax and enjoy. The log burner was lovely to have on in the evening so warm and cosy. I would definitely book again

An idyllic place. Location and house is really lovely. Its closeness to the village is also a plus. Access through the back door only though is not really practical or convenient .

A very comfortable house with plenty of space. It was well equipped, warm and cosy. The view was fantastic across the lake. The house is close to the village - just a 5-minute walk. We had a very enjoyable stay.

Lots of space and great views from the front of the property. Owners need to consider the importance of some basic supplies when renting out a property at this end of the market. They are lacking.

Lovely house, amazing views, great wood burning stove, the best location for Grasmere. Bedrooms and kitchen feeling slightly dated for high price rental but passable. The prices of houses in the lakes have gone up enormously in recent years, owners have to be careful to meet high price expectations with beds/pillows/decor/equipment/etc - you can't Read moredouble/triple the price and keep to old levels. Lovely accommodation for 8, well proportioned rooms, beautiful location. Outside space is very limited and not well set up for outside eating. You can launch paddleboards if the cafe at the bottom of the drive is open but if not the lake is challenging to access if you want to paddle.

Great property and stunning location. Perfect for walking to Grasmere and the surrounding fells. Stayed with a group of 8 adults and the only flaw is not enough seating for 8 without someone needing to sit on the floor or a dining chair.
