Discover this home away from home at the foot of the Yorkshire Wolds, where you can holiday in style with your loved ones and dogs. Head out on pet-pleasing walks and explore ancient villages by day, followed by cosy evenings in with a bottle of wine (and perhaps a short bone-chewing session for four-legged guests). This cottage has room for up to four humans and two canine companions, so is great for a romantic getaway, a small family get-together or a trip among friends.
The house is decorated in a tasteful, thoughtful style, with quirky paintings, pretty tiles and upcycled furniture. In the cosy and spacious lounge, sink into the sofa and settle down to a film while the pets warm their fur by the wood burner. Prepare meals in the well-equipped kitchen, which leads onto a dining room that’s great for leisurely meals plus a conservatory overlooking the garden. There’s also a games room and an attic, so you’ll have plenty of space for spreading out. The enclosed garden, accessed through a shared driveway, is perfect for relaxing together in fine weather. Sizzle up a feast on the charcoal BBQ while your pets take forty winks on the lawn – or hound you for sausages.
Stamford Bridge (1.5 miles) has shops where you can pick up supplies, and Pocklington (8.5 miles) is an attractive market town with a 15th century church tower. For long walks through rolling countryside and scenic villages, take the dogs to the Howardian Hills (10 miles). Take a bus or drive into historical York (9 miles) if you feel like a day out in the city. When you’re done sniffing out the delightful narrow streets and quaint shops, go for a walk along the River Ouse before having a pint in a doggie-welcoming real-ale pub.
