Perfectly positioned in the quaint fishing village of Polruan, this traditional two-bedroom cottage is ideal for couples or small families, including their canine companions, with the village amenities only a short walk away. Stroll to the dog-friendly pub to sample some of the local ales or pick up a tasty treat in the bakery to share as you watch the boats bob along the river. Take the lead along the coastal path to the popular village of Polperro (6 miles), or to Lansallos Beach (4 miles) where dogs are welcome all year round.
Step through the small porch where you will find space to hang up coats and leads and to clean up muddy paws. Prepare delicious dinners in the compact, yet well-equipped, kitchen (mind your head on the low ceiling) to share in the bright and airy dining room. For cosy evenings in, curl up on the comfortable sofa to watch TV or a DVD and switch on the electric wood burner-effect fire for your hound to enjoy. When it’s time for bed, take the stairs to the first floor. The double bedroom benefits from fabulous views across the estuary and there is a generous single with additional pull-out bed. The family bathroom is also on this floor. There is no outside space with the cottage, however, the quay is only a short walk away. There is a luggage drop off point less than 250 metres away and parking is available in the nearby car park (charges apply).
There are walks from the doorstep along the coastal path where you can enjoy spectacular scenery and sniff out the perfect picnic spot. Catch the ferry to neighbouring Fowey where you can delight in strolls along the estuary or walk through the woodland to 16th-century St Catherine’s Castle. Take the lead in exploring Wheal Martyn (20.5 miles) where you can follow the trails across the landscape and discover Cornwall’s mining past.
