Nestled at the foot of Blencathra in the sleepy village of Threlkeld, this charming property is the ideal vantage point for hill climbing. Scale the highest peaks and marvel at the views across Skiddaw Forest, scampering back down the mountain for a hearty meal in the dog-friendly pub close to your abode. Your accommodation is suitable for couples and small families of four along with two waggy-tailed members.

Comfortable and welcoming throughout, the property is set out across three levels beneath a charming stone exterior. Shake off your muddy coats and relax in the lounge/diner, tucking into cake at the table or watching the TV.  There’s a handy kitchen for rustling up your favourite treats, and the lower ground floor is home to a bathroom for when you are ready to soak your weary bones. There’s a twin bedroom on this level too, and the final bedroom is upstairs on the first floor along with an en-suite WC. Outside, the front garden has a private patio with seating, plus there’s access to a shared rear garden with a BBQ and seating area.

Discover a myriad of footpaths from the comfort of your doorstep or use the excellent road links close to your property and set off on a different kind of adventure. Derwentwater 8.5 miles away is a must for scenic lakeside strolls with your pup leading the way, but you’ll be able to really appreciate the views by boat. The 'cottage' is conveniently located across the road from the White Horse pub with easy access to the A66 and surrounding area. We did note that with a very poor/intermittant phone signal (one bar on the road outside sometimes) and no internet communication with anyone outside the cottage was difficult.

Had everything we needed, great location but phone signal is non existent and no wifi. Having wifi would have helped us with planning our days out more easily

We have stayed at this property 3 years now and it is ideally placed for exploring the Lake District, the property is well equipped but somethings do need updating, like the mattress. We had some maintenance issues but they were dealt with straight away. A lovely, comfortable cottage. 10 minutes drive to Keswick. Walk up Blencathra right outside the window. Comfy beds. (We had no problem with the fridge.) The cottage is the MIDDLE one, it is number 2. There are no signs saying "Clough View" - the only sign is for Scales View. The parking is in the large open area opposite the pub (there is a rough Read morehandpainted sign saying "parking for cottage residents only".) There was no noise from the pub, although the road is a bit noisy. Reply from holidaycottages.co.uk: Thanks so much for your feedback, we have passed this to the owner. We are pleased to confirm the owner has put up new signage in the parking area. Hide
